#FoundItOnAmazon Birding Essentials
Trying to get into birding and the outdoors can be nerve-racking with so many places to go and so much equipment to buy. But understand, you don’t need much to enjoy nature, that’s the beauty of it! To help you get started on your next birding adventure here are the items that I use on almost every trip. These are the items that I make SURE are in my bag when I head out whether it be a casual walk in the neighborhood or out with friends. All of the items I currently own so if you have any questions definitely let me know!
Get Into this BAG
The Osprey Daylite Plus pack is so much more than a hiking bag. I use this when I go to class to carry my laptop, and on hikes to carry my binoculars in books. There are just enough pockets to hold everything, while remaining less bulky than other bags. Asbury was really in their bag with this one... okay I'm done.
The Bins You Need and Want
While this item is a splurge I will say, I probably won't have to buy another pair of binoculars for the rest of my life! Vortex Optics are known for their hunting gear and scopes, but don't sleep on the bins. They have amazing pairs to fit other price points and sizes, and even some suitable for kids. A good pair of binoculars will make your experience all that much better.
Stay Hydrated
Another item that is completely multipurpose. The Hydro Flask 21 oz. is small enough to fit in your standard cup holder or backpack pocket, and strong enough to withstand whatever nature throws at you. I have tested out the longevity of both hot and cold beverages and coffee will taste like it came straight out the pot hours later. Mine is currently spotlighting as a sticker holder as well!
All the Birds to The Yard
This is a great and diverse nuts and berries seed that I have used for a year now. The birds in my area love it and have a blast picking through to find what they like. I would always recommend providing a variety of foods to maximize the diversity and abundance of your feeders.
Feeders are Key
Your feeder is very important to fit your space and attract the species you’re looking for. Living in a 3 story townhome I don’t have much “yard” to put pole feeders in, so this window feeder works wonders and allows you to get personal with your visitors. I have great pictures due to this feeder!
Guide the Way
There are plenty of guides to choose from and my personal fave is the Sibley Field Guide system. There are Eastern North America and Western North America editions available and have been in circulation more than 20 years.
